About my logo

Can you guess what it is, or how it was done; other than that it looks like an owl head?

It is a photograph of part of a Beech tree that lives at Institute Park in Worcester, MA. Now, of course, I have done a bit of editing to it, such as contrast adjustment, a bit of dodging and burning, not to mention making it into a greyscale image (my goal was to make it look like something somewhere between a sketch and a photograph, without being too obvious what or what medium it was). The basic shape and outline, as well as the "eyes" and "beak" etc. are definitely visible on the tree in person. Not that I noticed that right away though, in fact I had shot several close-up frames (the version above is only slightly cropped) without even realizing why I was drawn to shoot it at all. After I had shot those first few frames, I stood back to make sure I had gotten whatever it was that I had found interesting there, and that is when it "came into focus" for me and I saw it. I think my response was "holy sh*t, it's an owl's head!" And, "wow, what a perfect place for it!"

Below is the original image, uncropped and with minimal editing/processing.
